Funimation Removes “Interspecies Reviewers”

One of the top anime streaming services, Funimation has recently confirmed with Anime News Network that they have removed the Interspecies Reviewers from their streaming platform.

Funimation has provided the Anime News Network a statement from a spokesperson:

“After careful consideration, we determined that this series falls outside of our standards. We have the utmost respect for our creators so rather than substantially alter the content, we felt taking it down was the most respectful choice.”

The series began streaming on Funimation earlier this month, The company had planned to stream the series in both English sub and dub. The anime has premiered in Japan on January 11th and is going to have only 12 episodes.

Yen Press, had licensed the manga and has described the story as:

“Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder! From elves to succubi to cyclopes and more, the Interspecies Reviewers rate the red-light delights of all manner of monster girls, the only thing is they can never agree on which species is the hottest!”

The Interspecies Reviewers manga ran as a special one-shot in the Kadokawa’s Monthly Dragon Age magazine in July 2016, and the company is also publishing the manga in complied print volumes.

This manga has also won the DLsite Award in Da Vinci Magazine and Niconico’s Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards.

A/N: As a girl who watches so many different anime, when I first heard about Funimation taking this anime off their streaming site/app I will admit I was actually a little upset about it because of the fact they have other anime series on there that show adult content. For example: Prison School, Vlkyrie: Mermaid Island, Panty and Stocking, High School DxD and some other anime that show uncensored nudity/adult content. So what I don’t understand is why take this anime down if they literally sensor certain parts, well they try to at least.

What are your thoughts about this fellow anime fans?
