During an event for investors at the New York Toy Fair, Hasbro had announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to Early Access later this year.
The presentation had highlighted 7 D&D based RPGs are in development, including Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dark Alliance. Their plan is to release one D&D based RPG every year until 2025. Hasbro’s the parent company for Wizards of the coast, which has licensed D&D and Baldur’s Gate 3 to Larian Studios for the third game in the series.
Larian’s no stranger when it comes to Early Access releases. Divinity Original Sin 2 came out as Early Access ahead of its official release with a limited selection of the game’s story.
According to the presentation, Baldur’s Gate 3 will come out as Early Access some time this year.
The news came after the Wizards of Coast had opened and started staffing a new studio, Archetype Entertainment, which is composed in a large part by Bioware Austin veterans. This studio is working on a Sci-fi project, but there’s no further new about the project.
The presentation has also stated that 2019 was a record year for Wizards of the Coast, partly because of the income from Magic the Gathering: Arena.
