What is Borderlands Science?
Borderlands Science is a puzzle game that benefits the real-world scientific community.
Borderlands Science is simple block puzzles based on strands of DNA. By solving them you are helping map and compare the microbes contained therein.
When completing the puzzles also means you earn in-game currency which can be redeemed in-game for unique Vault Hunter heads and skins, as well as timed boosters that buff your stats, loot quality, and even XP gains when you go back into Mayhem.
This game exists because of the fact computers aren’t perfect at organizing this data and they make a lot of small mistakes that can corrupt subsequent analysis. But with this game players can solve the complex task is easy to understand and play.
The colored tiles represent different nucleotides appear on a grid, by nudging them up with their columns the player attempt to organize them into the correct rows. Now, it’s not always possible to line all of them up correctly but attempting these puzzles is still helpful as you are identfying errors in real world computer analyses.
Each of the puzzles has a target score that players need to hit in order to progress and credit for solving it.
Note: Hitting a puzzle’s target score doesn’t mean players have to move on to the next stage. There will often still be additional moves that you can make. Going above & beyond the bare minimum that’s required is the key if players want to beat the high scores that are already posted by Tannis and contribute more data.
