Xbox One Update: May 2020

The team behind the Xbox believes gaming is for everyone, so to serve both the new gamers and long term xbox one fans they’ve been working hard on “Streamining” and “Refining” the Xbox One experience. Driven by the worldwide Xbox One community’s feedback they’re sharing some of the new updates and improvements that have been released on all Xbox One consoles.

Guide Layout

Since the guide is the heart of navigating through the Xbox One, the Xbox team has been working to Streamine the guide for all gamers, while testing new layouts with their Xbox Insiders. The improvements range from “Structural” changes to “Subtle” visual details around the badging and notifications.

The new guide setup is designed to be clearer and easier to read. The Xbox team has reduced the amount of “tabs” by putting similar experiences together and introducing the new default (left to right) tab order. The ‘App & System’ notifications are now found in with the rest of the ‘Alerts’.

They’ve also reorganized the “People” tab to simplify the layout. “Friends Suggestions” are now under “Find Someone”, making it easier for players to find people they may know on Xbox Live. Also, players can now find the “Discover Clubs” in the Clubs page, which’ll allow gamers to find more suggestions for some communities to join.

The new “Party & Chat” tab combines Party, Messaging, & Invites into a single tab.

The “Profile & System” tab combines the important features such as; Sign-in, Settings, and Help. This gives the players quick access to them.

Finally, in this update it features the ability to customize the tab order that works for you. To access the ability to customize the guide tabs, go to the “customize guide tabs” option on the “Profile & System” tab.

Connecting with the Xbox Community

The Xbox team wants their gamers to feel connected to what is happening in the rest of the community. So, they updated the community section so now it’s clearer for your content and how you explore all that Xbox Live as to offer.

Improved layout splits into 4 new channels:

  • Shared by friends
  • Official posts from games
  • Club Activity
  • Popular on Xbox Live

Additional Collection Filters

With changes made to the “My Games & Apps” gamers now have more flexibility to manage the collection the way you want. In their efforts to make it easier to sort and manage your growing library, they’ve added Genre & Player count as additional filters.

Mixer Browse Improvements

With the players enthusiasm for Mixer, it drove the Xbox team to improve the Mixer Dashboard experience for the Streamers along with the viewers.

The Live thumbnails that previews a Mixer broadcast makes it easier to get a sneak peak of the stream before joining it. Also, with this update you can scroll through to see what’s happening and or find a new favorite streamer.
